British Columbia's Schools
Schools should focus on education — not political or ideological activism.
A Kerry-Lynne Findlay government will:
- Remove SOGI-related materials and policies from BC schools
- Introduce legislation preventing SOGI ideology from being taught in classrooms
- Ensure parents are fully informed and respected regarding matters involving their children
- Refocus classroom time on academic achievement and student success
Support Parents’ Rights
Parents are the primary decision-makers in their children’s lives.
We will:
- Increase transparency between schools and families
- Strengthen parental notification policies
- Protect parents’ ability to be involved in their child’s education and wellbeing
- Ensure schools work in partnership with families — not against them
Safe, Disciplined, and Respectful Schools
Students and teachers deserve classrooms that are safe and conducive to learning.
We will:
- Strengthen classroom discipline standards
- Support teachers in maintaining orderly learning environments
- Address violence, bullying, and chronic classroom disruption
- Expand mental health supports focused on student wellbeing and resilience
Preparing Students for the Future
British Columbia must prepare students for the jobs of tomorrow.
We will:
- Expand skilled trades and apprenticeship opportunities
- Strengthen partnerships with industry and employers
- Improve rural and northern access to educational opportunities
- Promote merit, excellence, innovation, and achievement
A World-Class Education System for British Columbia
British Columbia was once known for having one of the strongest education systems in Canada. Under years of NDP mismanagement, academic standards have slipped and parents have lost confidence in the direction of our schools.
Kerry-Lynne Findlay will restore a world-class education system focused on academic excellence, parental involvement, student achievement, and preparing young people to succeed in a competitive global economy.
