A Policy for a Kerry-Lynne Findlay Government
British Columbians are increasingly concerned about the growth of government control over their daily lives, businesses, livelihoods, and personal freedoms.
Over the last several years, many people felt ignored, punished, or pushed aside by a government that became too centralized, too bureaucratic, and too willing to dictate personal choices.
Thousands of healthcare workers, public employees, tradespeople, and private-sector workers lost jobs or faced restrictions because of government mandates. Small businesses were buried under regulations. Families faced rising costs, growing bureaucracy, and declining trust in public institutions.
A Kerry-Lynne Findlay Government will restore balance by protecting civil liberties, limiting government overreach, and putting citizens — not bureaucracies — back at the center of decision making.
This policy is about restoring common sense, accountability, and freedom in British Columbia.
1. Restore Employment Rights and End Political Punishment
Thousands of British Columbians lost careers, incomes, pensions, and opportunities because of government-imposed COVID-era mandates.
Many workers who served their communities for years were dismissed without meaningful accommodation or due process.
This division damaged public trust and weakened critical sectors like healthcare.
A Kerry-Lynne Findlay Government will:
- Immediately review all remaining COVID-era employment restrictions in provincial workplaces
- Rehire terminated provincial employees and healthcare workers who wish to return to work, subject to standard professional licensing and competency requirements
- Establish a process to assess compensation and back pay claims fairly and transparently
- Protect workers from future politically driven medical discrimination
- Ensure no British Columbian loses employment solely because of lawful personal medical decisions
Government should never treat citizens as disposable.
2. Protect Medical Freedom and Informed Consent
Medical decisions belong between patients and healthcare professionals — not politicians.
British Columbians deserve informed consent, transparent information, and the right to ask questions without fear of censorship or punishment.
A Kerry-Lynne Findlay Government will:
- Protect informed consent as a core principle of provincial healthcare policy
- Oppose coercive medical mandates imposed without legislative scrutiny
- Ensure future emergency powers are subject to independent oversight and legislative review
- Require greater transparency around public health decision-making
- Defend the right of healthcare professionals to express legitimate scientific and medical opinions without political retaliation
Public trust cannot exist without openness and accountability.
3. Reduce Government Overreach
British Columbia has become burdened by excessive bureaucracy, regulation, and centralized control.
Too many decisions are made by unelected officials far removed from the people affected by those decisions.
A Kerry-Lynne Findlay Government will:
- Launch a province-wide review of unnecessary regulations and administrative barriers
- Introduce a “Taxpayer and Freedom Test” for major new regulations
- Reduce permitting delays and bureaucratic duplication
- Require sunset clauses and periodic reviews for emergency powers and temporary regulations
- Expand transparency requirements for government agencies, health authorities, and Crown corporations
Government exists to serve citizens—not control them.
4. Defend Freedom of Speech and Open Debate
Democracy depends on the ability to ask questions, challenge government policy, and debate public issues freely.
British Columbians should never fear professional, financial, or social punishment for expressing lawful opinions.
A Kerry-Lynne Findlay Government will:
- Protect freedom of expression within provincial institutions
- Defend academic freedom and open debate in publicly funded universities
- Oppose political censorship and viewpoint discrimination
- Ensure public servants are protected from ideological coercion in the workplace
- Promote transparency instead of suppression of dissenting views
Healthy democracies welcome debate — they do not silence it.
5. Put Citizens Back in Charge
British Columbia needs a government that trusts its people again.
This means empowering communities, respecting individual responsibility, and restoring accountability to public institutions.
A Kerry-Lynne Findlay Government will:
- Decentralize decision-making wherever possible
- Strengthen legislative oversight over emergency powers
- Expand access to government records and decision-making processes
- Reduce wasteful spending and bloated administration
- Focus government on core responsibilities: healthcare, public safety, infrastructure, and economic growth
The role of government is to protect freedom — not replace it.
A New Direction for British Columbia
British Columbians are hardworking, independent people who believe in fairness, responsibility, and common sense.
They deserve a government that respects their rights, listens to their concerns, and treats them like citizens—not subjects.
A Kerry-Lynne Findlay Government will restore freedom, accountability, and trust in British Columbia.
It’s time to put people back in charge.
