Restore medical freedom. Restore free speech. Restore rights. Put British Columbians first.
British Columbia runs on people who work - including our dedicated doctors, nurses and health professionals who show up every day to care for us and our families. But the NDP government is crushing that spirit with more control and red tape.
On November 24, 2022, the NDP passed the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA) - Bill 36. It comes into force on April 1st, 2026. It rips away the self-regulation that our health colleges have had for decades. It hands real power to government-appointed boards. It changes how doctors are disciplined and makes it harder for them to speak freely on behalf of patients. Doctors call it a gag order that treats them like the enemy instead of the trusted experts they are. It puts politics and bureaucracy ahead of patient care.
Let me be clear: this NDP takeover of our health professions stops with a real Conservative BC Government.
As Premier and Leader of the Conservative Party of BC, I will fully repeal the Health Professions and Occupations Act on day one. We will restore self-regulation, protect the doctor-patient relationship, defend free speech and medical freedom for our health professionals and their patients, and get the government out of the way so our great healthcare workers can do what they do best - look after British Columbians.
This race is a simple choice: more NDP control and hidden liberal agendas, or a reliable Conservative Leader and Premier who stands up for the workers who keep our province healthy.
Together, we’ll cut the red tape, restore trust in our health system, and build a freer, stronger British Columbia - one where our doctors can focus on caring for you and your family, not fighting Ottawa-style bureaucracy. Real change is coming, and it starts with us.
